Leather Black Combat Boots

"Boots, Combat Service" were introduced during World War II as one of the first modern combat boots for the U.S. Army. The Army Combat Boot was worn by the United States Military through the Korean and Vietnam War and into the early 2000s. In addition to the army combat boot, the Jungle Boot, which is a black leather boot with an olive drab nylon top, was introduced late in the Vietnam War.

Black Combat and Jungle Boots required soldiers to "shine their boots" to present a proper military appearance as well as protecting the leather and prolonging the life of their footwear. Black Military Boots were worn extensively in the 1970s, 80s, and 90s with the Olive Drab Uniform and the Woodland Camouflage BDU Uniform.

As of 2011, Black Leather Boots are still worn by the U.S. Coast Guard with their Operational Dress Uniform and the U.S. Navy with their NWUs (Navy Working Uniform). However, the other branches of service wear Desert Boots with the Army ACUs, Sage Green Boots with the Air Force ABUs, or Olive Boots with the Marine MARPAT Woodland and Desert Digital Uniforms.

However, Black Military and Tactical Boots are widely worn today by law enforcement, security, state defense forces, ROTC, JROTC, and civilian groups such as Paintball teams as part of their uniform or tactical gear. High quality Black Military Boots are made by companies such as Corcoran and Belleville and can have quality features such as steel toe, side-zipper, insulation, or water proofing.
